Student
During my study I had several jobs. The main jobs were in the catering industry (restaurant and pubs). I was always busy in designing advertisements and innovative website for these employers. Our website was awarded the "Best Pub Internetsite" in 1997. I created national fame with the launch of the "Virtual Pub Crawl".

I also did some editing and editorial work at the ABN AMRO. I was responsible for the 24x7 helpdesk for customers.

Digital Equipment Corp.
During and after my study I worked at the communication department of Digital Equipment Cooperation in the Netherlands. We were responsible for the standardization of the local intranet, implementing the corporate style guide and facilitating the business with advertisements and communication tools. After Compaq took over Digital, I wanted to broaden my skills and I became a (project)management trainee at the Rabobank Organization.

Rabobank
During this traineeship I did several projects: developing a database tool for a department, migration of work processes, implementation of an company intranet (Rabofacet, 3000 members) and co-developing a business plan for a new department within the Rabobank. During this traineeship I learned a lot of the different projects and the trainee classes which taught us all the different aspects of (project)management.
After my traineeship there were several opportunities and I decided to join the communication department because of the great opportunity they wanted to give me; communication consultant of the new business unit: Direct Channels.

Management team
I became a member of the management team. I started on my own but the business unit grew rapidly. I created a team of 3 communication members who helped me with the daily operation. During this period I was also responsible for the internet of Rabofacet. Before a reshuffling of the company I was asked to manage a another team of communication members. After the reshuffling the departments would come together and a new team, of 7 people would be created. I coached and implemented these changes together with HR.
Because of positive results I was asked to manage a new department called: Site Management.
This department is responsible for the content management of the main website: www.rabobank.nl and several other sites. I was responsible for managing the department and talking with marketing and communications about the (interactive) communication policy and strategy.

Business IT alignment
A new reshuffling took place and I could join a new department which was responsible for the alignment between business and it. In my former roles I saw this alignment as a major issue in all the projects and results. That's why I accepted the role, but after a year of work I did find it too broad. I wanted to act in an area where communication and new technologies meet.

Corporate Web Management
I saw a new function at De Lage Landen: the responsibility of the internet and intranet of an international organization which was becoming a global player on the international lease market. I did like the challenge because of the global aspect, the combination of communication and IT, the informal culture, the growth and positive vibes within the organization. During the last 1,5 years I have standardize and professionalized the team and the way we look at our websites. Together with ecommerce Europe and ecommerce Americas I have started several pilot projects to show the organization a different view on collaboration and communication.

Teacher
In April 2005 the HAN university asked me to develop a new course for graduates of their communication course of the school of economics. As of September 2005 I started to teach a small group of fourth grade students: New Media strategies. In this course I teach the students about internet, intranet and extranet strategies of organisations.

CM Pros & blogs
Since May 2005 I have joined the Content Management Professionals. Together with some other dutch members we have organised a Dutch Community and are organizing several summits.
